Dr. Rogermar D. Villanueva, an alumnus of Isabela State University-Roxas under Science Laboratory High School takes pride for becoming Top 9 in the Written Certifying Examination for Diplomates in Internal Medicine released in March 2024 by the Philippine Specialty Board of Internal Medicine. He started his secondary education at ISUR in 2004 and graduated in 2008. He finished his BS Medical Technology in 2012 and passed the Medical Technology Licensure Examination in the same year while he obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2018 and passed the Physician Licensure Examination year 2019.Currently, he is working at Cagayan Valley Medical Center, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

On his interview after passing the Physician Licensure Examination in 2019, he emphasized the quality of education provided by ISU Roxas. “Their nourishment and guidance directed me to where I am today. As the Vision of the university, to produce quality graduates, who are professionally competent imbued with values and virtue and who possess deep love of God and country. This is what ISU Roxas gave to me. we were taught by brilliant teachers. I can still remember the long hours of mixing acids and bases to reach certain end points, centrifugating pails of water, growing plants in water, we even refrigerate beans to observe growth patterns, we cultivate mushrooms, we determine toxicities of certain plants, we broke our head to solve for that difficult x. ISU Roxas, like a culture medium, has nourishment that will allow you to grow what you are supposed to be and has inhibitors that teach us and perfectly direct us to where we should be”,  he stated.

“It is by studying that we learn…also, being competent is the key to achieve our dreams. But, in the quest of excellence, we must not forget to be humane and compassionate. Wherever we are, it should be our heart that fills our system. Whatever field you will choose, give the time to serve the community. Remember our biology, we’re part of the ecosystem. In order to keep the web chains moving, everyone must fulfill their roles”, he added.

In conclusion, the successful products from ISU Roxas across various fields serve as compelling evidence of its excellence in providing quality education which is one of the Sustainable Development Goals of the University.
