The Isabela State University (ISU) – Roxas Campus, through the Program on Management of Information System for Gender and Development (PMISGAD) Office, successfully conducted the Women Empowerment Recognition Program on April 13, 2026, at the ISU Oldsite Gymnasium in Rang-ayan, Roxas, Isabela. The program served as a meaningful celebration of women’s strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions to society. It provided a platform to honor achievements, promote gender equality, and inspire a collective commitment to empowering women across all sectors.
The program commenced with a spirit of unity and purpose as participants gathered early in the morning, warmly welcomed by the dedicated GADvocates team. The atmosphere was energized through a lively Zumba warm-up led by the Kapagayan Dance Troupe, symbolizing strength, confidence, and collective empowerment. This was followed by a solemn prayer that grounded everyone in gratitude and shared commitment.
The outgoing Campus Administrator, Prof. Emerson V. Barcellano, RFP, PhD, together with the newly installed Campus Administrator, Atty. Romano P. Camayo, delivered meaningful messages highlighting the importance of gender equality, inclusivity, and the continuous pursuit of empowering women in all sectors of society.
Distinguished speakers from the Sangguniang Bayan of Roxas also shared their insights and support, including SB Mark Hatol, SB Kristine Bernadette Uy, SB Clint Lanuza, and SB Avelino Navalta. Their messages underscored the vital role of local governance in promoting gender-responsive programs and empowering communities. They encouraged breaking barriers, fostering equal opportunities, and creating safe spaces for women and girls’ messages that inspired both reflection and action among participants.
Intermission performances followed, featuring Mr. Joshua Pagsambungan, who showcased his vocal talent and added vibrancy to the event.
To further emphasize the significance of women’s empowerment, participants including employees and students gathered for a photo opportunity, followed by a commitment signing for gender equality and women’s empowerment. This symbolic activity reflected a shared pledge to protect women from all forms of violence and uphold their rights and dignity.
One of the highlights of the event was the inspiring message delivered by the Guest Speaker, Vice Mayor Susana Uy Magno. She shared a powerful story about a woman who struggled with fear and self-doubt in leadership. She emphasized that fear is a natural part of being human, but it should never hinder one’s dreams of becoming a leader and a servant to others. As she profoundly stated, “Hindi kailangang mawala ang takot para maging matapang. Ang lakas ng kababaihan ay hindi nasusukat sa pagiging perpekto, kundi sa kung ilang beses silang bumabangon sa kabila ng hirap.”
Various departments actively participated in the “Juana Says” Competition, showcasing creativity, confidence, and advocacy through movement and music.
