ROXAS, Isabela – As Isabela State University (ISU) Roxas Campus gears up for the opening of Academic Year 2026–2027, the University proudly marks another milestone in its continuing campus development efforts with the completion of the Main Entrance Driveway Concreting Project—a significant infrastructure initiative that transforms the University’s gateway into a safer, more accessible, and more welcoming entrance for all.

This accomplishment is one of several infrastructure and facility enhancement projects implemented under the leadership of Atty. Romano P. Cammayo, DPA, Campus Administrator, as part of the Campus Administration’s commitment to modernizing university facilities and creating a conducive learning environment that supports academic excellence, student welfare, and institutional growth.

For many years, the University’s main entrance consisted of an unpaved roadway that became muddy and slippery during the rainy season and dusty during dry weather. These conditions posed daily challenges for students, faculty members, employees, parents, alumni, and visitors entering and leaving the campus. Beyond the inconvenience, the road conditions also affected safety, accessibility, and the overall campus experience.

Recognizing the need for a long-term and sustainable solution, the Campus Administration prioritized the implementation of the Main Entrance Driveway Concreting Project, which was funded through Campus Fund 164. Through the prudent utilization of institutional resources, the University invested in infrastructure that directly benefits its stakeholders while reinforcing its commitment to continuous campus improvement.

The project involved site preparation, excavation, grading, and reinforced concrete pavement construction. Throughout every stage of implementation, the project was closely supervised and monitored to ensure compliance with engineering standards, quality workmanship, and timely completion.

Today, the once muddy and uneven entrance has been transformed into a durable, all-weather concrete roadway that significantly enhances vehicular and pedestrian mobility. The improved entrance not only minimizes muddy conditions during heavy rains and dust during dry months but also provides safer access, better traffic flow, and a more professional and welcoming first impression of the University.

The completion of the project comes at an opportune time as ISU Roxas Campus prepares to welcome students, faculty members, and employees for Academic Year 2026–2027. It reflects the University’s continuing efforts to ensure that its physical facilities match the quality of education and public service it strives to deliver.

Beyond this project, Atty. Cammayo has led the implementation of numerous campus development initiatives designed to improve the University’s infrastructure, learning spaces, and support facilities. These include classroom upgrades, facility improvements, campus beautification, and other strategic projects that collectively enhance the overall learning environment and strengthen the University’s readiness to serve its growing academic community.

The Main Entrance Driveway Concreting Project also advances Isabela State University’s Smart Green University initiative by promoting sustainable campus development and improving the University’s physical environment. Likewise, it supports the University’s pursuit of innovation and institutional excellence consistent with the principles recognized by the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).

Moreover, the project contributes to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by supporting:

• SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through the development of resilient and sustainable campus infrastructure;
• SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, by providing safer, more accessible, and inclusive public spaces; and
• SDG 13 – Climate Action, by improving campus resilience through durable infrastructure capable of withstanding varying weather conditions.

More than a physical improvement, the newly concreted main entrance symbolizes the University’s unwavering commitment to progress, responsible governance, and excellent public service. It reflects how strategic investments in infrastructure create meaningful and lasting benefits for students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and the wider community.

As the University opens its doors for another academic year, every student and visitor who passes through this newly improved gateway will be welcomed by an entrance that represents not only progress in infrastructure but also the University’s vision of building a campus that is innovative, sustainable, resilient, and future-ready.
