As part of its commitment to academic excellence and industry relevance, the Isabela State University – Roxas Campus, through its Provincial Institute of Fisheries, conducted a benchmarking visit at the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – National Fisheries Development Center (BFAR-NFDC) in Dagupan City on April 03, 2025.

The activity focused on exploring the operations, best practices, and state-of-the-art facilities of BFAR’s Seafood Processing Complex, which serves as a national model in fisheries postharvest technology. This visit will serve as a foundation for curriculum enhancement and strategic planning in the upcoming offering of ISU’s new degree program: Bachelor of Fish Processing Technology.

Attending the activity were the Campus Administrator, Campus Academic Affairs Director, and the Program Chair and faculty member of the Provincial Institute of Fisheries, who engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions with BFAR technical staff, toured key processing units, and gathered insights on quality standards, value-adding innovations, and industry linkages.

This initiative marks a crucial step in aligning our academic programs with real-world industry needs, ensuring that future graduates are equipped with practical skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and technological proficiency.
