Isabela State University Roxas (ISUR) Campus took part in the Isabela State University (ISU) 2nd Academic Summit, a significant gathering for academic leaders aimed at discussing crucial topics in higher education to achieve academic excellence and quality public service, held on February 20-21, 2024 at ISU Cauayan Campus.

The summit opened with a keynote speech by Atty. Marco Cicero F. Domingo, the Regional Director of CHEDRO2, who emphasized the roadmap of higher education and its role in fostering academic excellence and professional growth. Following this, Dr. Teody C. San Andres, President of Bulacan State University (BULSU), provided insights into the current educational landscape, addressing challenges and opportunities encountered by State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) today. Dr. Boyet L. Batang, the ISU Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted the importance of quality assurance mechanisms, stressing the need to maintain academic standards and ensure the quality of education provided.

 

A significant moment of the summit was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between ISU and BULSU for the establishment of a College of Medicine, graced by Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino, ISU President, and Dr. Teody C. San Andres, BULSU President, witnessed by officials from both institutions. Assoc. Prof. Marlon B. Santos from BULSU shared practical strategies for preparing instructional materials that effectively engage learners, enhancing teaching methodologies and promoting student-centered learning approaches. Dr. Rosalyn L. Bautista, the Campus Administrator of ISUR, provided highlights of ISUR’s academic milestones and way forward, outlining academic accomplishments, challenges, and strategic directions, including infrastructure development to support academic growth.

The second day of the summit focused on practical aspects of academic governance and institutional development, covering topics such as faculty workload guidelines, updates to institutional manuals, and initiatives for internationalization. ISUR’s participation in the said academic summit was instrumental in fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and paving the way for academic advancement and good governance. The insights gained from the summit will guide ISUR in its mission to provide quality education and contribute to the broader goals of higher education.
