The Isabela State University (ISU) Roxas campus has taken a major step towards sustainability with the installation of a hybrid solar power system at its new site. Now powering the Dy Building, this project is part of the university’s 25-year Campus Development Plan (2023-2048), which aims to equip the entire campus with renewable energy.

Funded by the General Appropriations Act of 2024, Phase 1 of the project has been completed, providing solar energy to part of the Dy Building. The second phase, which is currently underway, will fully equip the building with solar power, significantly reducing the campus’s reliance on conventional energy sources and cutting costs.

This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including *SDG 7* (Affordable and Clean Energy), by promoting renewable energy use, and *SDG 13* (Climate Action), through efforts to reduce the university’s carbon footprint. It also supports *SDG 11* (Sustainable Cities and Communities), contributing to the development of a greener and more sustainable academic environment.

By 2048, ISU-Roxas aims to be fully powered by renewable energy, leading the way in sustainable campus development and climate action.
