On Friday, February 14, 2025, the College of Education Extension and Training Unit embraced the spirit of Valentine’s Day by conducting a heartwarming tutorial service at Matusalem Elementary School (MES). This event was part of the college’s Adopt a School program, which aims to foster educational growth in local communities.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Nancy A. Atchuela, the dedicated leader of the LINUP program, Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) students majoring in Filipino collaborated to create a joyful and enriching experience for the young learners. The students organized a Valentine’s card-making activity, encouraging MES students to craft personalized cards for their parents. This initiative not only nurtured creativity but also emphasized the importance of expressing love and appreciation through thoughtful gestures.
Throughout the activity, the young learners honed their writing and reading skills, guided by the BSEd students. They engaged in crafting heartfelt messages and designing colorful cards, showcasing their artistic talents and communicative competence. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and laughter as students collaborated, shared ideas, and took pride in their creations.
Mrs. Annalyn Wana, the reading coordinator at MES, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the LINUP learners’ involvement. She observed the genuine happiness and pride the young learners exhibited while working on their cards, highlighting the positive impact of the tutorial service. “Seeing the students deliver their task with joy in their hearts was truly rewarding,” she remarked, emphasizing how the partnership between the College of Education and MES enriched the educational experience for everyone involved.
This Valentine’s Day event exemplified the commitment of the College of Education to foster not only academic skills but also emotional growth, community engagement, and the importance of interpersonal relationships.
