In celebration of the Philippine Criminology Profession Week 2025, the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) of Isabela State University–Roxas Campus proudly held a two-day event from November 6 to 7, 2025, anchored on the national theme “Upholding the Legacy of Justice and Integrity in Criminology Education Towards Nation-Building”. The week-long observance, held pursuant to Proclamation No. 397, Series of 2023, issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., recognizes the vital role of criminologists as key contributors to peace, order, and justice in Philippine society.

The opening day featured the activity titled “Ensuring Professional Legitimacy; The Importance of PRC Renewal, Endorsement and Certificate of Good Standing in the practice of Criminology.” The morning session focused on professional development through an engaging seminar conducted by Dr. Donald T. Sumad-on, RCrim., Ph.D., PCAP Vice Governor and Chancellor of the Isabela Chapter. Dr. Sumad-on emphasized the importance of competence, ethical behavior, and accountability as the core foundations of professional integrity, inspiring criminologists to continually enhance their credentials and remain true to their calling as guardians of justice and public safety. The activity also highlighted the special participation of the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP) – Isabela Chapter, whose active involvement greatly contributed to the success of the event. Their presence reinforced the significance of professional unity and the continued collaboration between academic institutions and professional organizations in advancing the criminology field. Following the seminar, the activity proceeded with the on-site PCAP registration, which provided criminologists with an accessible and convenient avenue to update their professional status. The event was attended by representatives from various schools offering Criminology programs across the province of Isabela, uniformed personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), and alumni from the ISU system. The day embodied the true spirit of service, unity, and lifelong learning among criminologists, educators, and practitioners, reflecting the profession’s continuous pursuit of excellence and accountability

In the afternoon session, the celebration shifted its focus to environmental stewardship and moral discipline through the activity titled “Tree Growing and Work Ethics Seminar cum On-Site Psychological Examination.” The activity brought together faculty members, OJT students and SBO Officers for a symbolic tree-growing event, promoting a sense of responsibility toward the environment while emphasizing teamwork and community involvement. This was followed by the Work Ethics Seminar and psychological examination, which provided valuable insights into the importance of ethical conduct, emotional resilience, and mental preparedness among criminal justice students. These activities reminded participants that justice is not only served in the courts but also reflected in one’s character, mindset, and values.

On the second day of the celebration, the focus turned to the culminating academic activity titled “Justice in Action: The Modern Criminal Justice System.” This seminar gathered distinguished speakers representing the five pillars of the Criminal Justice System—Law Enforcement, Prosecution, the Courts, Corrections, and the Community. Each speaker shared valuable perspectives on the evolving roles, challenges, and collaborative efforts that strengthen justice administration in the Philippines.

The discussions emphasized the interconnectedness of the five pillars and the importance of ethical conduct, accountability, and community participation in sustaining peace and order. Students, faculty members, and professionals actively engaged in the open forum, gaining deeper insights into how every sector contributes to the realization of justice and public trust.

Through these activities, CCJE ISU-Roxas demonstrated its strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 fostering peace, justice, and strong institutions by empowering criminologists to become competent, ethical, and socially responsible professionals. The Criminology Profession Week 2025 Celebration served as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the College of Criminal Justice Education to promote excellence in the field of criminology while nurturing leaders who embody the ideals of justice and integrity.

Indeed, justice was not only discussed but lived throughout the celebration, a true manifestation of “Justice in Action.”
