Isabela State University–Roxas Campus actively joined the national 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) through a series of meaningful activities conducted from Day 1 to Day 12 of the campaign. Anchored on the theme of promoting gender equality, respect, and human dignity, the initiative aimed to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and strengthen collective action against all forms of violence affecting women and children.
The campaign formally commenced with an opening program that emphasized the university’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive academic environment. Campus officials, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students came together in solidarity, wearing orange—the campaign’s official color—to symbolize hope and a violence-free future.
Throughout Days 1 to 12, ISU Roxas implemented a range of advocacy-driven activities designed to inform and engage the campus community. These included information dissemination drives, posting of educational materials about VAWC laws such as Republic Act 9262, and social media campaigns that highlighted the rights of women and children, warning signs of abuse, and available support mechanisms. These efforts ensured that awareness extended beyond the campus and reached the broader community.
Educational discussions and short talks were also conducted, focusing on gender sensitivity, respectful relationships, and the role of young people in preventing violence. These sessions encouraged students to reflect on social norms, challenge harmful stereotypes, and become advocates of equality and empathy in their respective circles.
The observance of Days 1–12 of the campaign at ISU Roxas served as a strong reminder that ending violence against women and children requires continuous education, vigilance, and collective action. By fostering awareness and empowering its stakeholders, the university reaffirmed its role not only as an institution of learning but also as a catalyst for social change.
As the 18-Day Campaign continues, ISU Roxas remains steadfast in its advocacy, calling on everyone to stand united, speak up, and take action toward building a safer, more just, and violence-free society for all.
