The Department of Science and Technology – Regional Office II (DOST-RO2), represented by Regional Director Dr. Virginia G. Bilgera, has awarded a grant of PHP 1,498,224.00 to Isabela State University (ISU) Roxas Campus for the implementation of the Project on Product Innovation, Development, and Entrepreneurship (PRIDE). This award was made possible through the dedication and hard work of Dr. Rosalyn L. Bautista, former Campus Administrator, who also serves as the program leader and was instrumental in the approval of the project proposal. The grant is in accordance with a Memorandum of Agreement established between DOST-RO2 and ISU Roxas Campus with the presence of Dr. Janet P. Cunanan as the project leader and Ms. Nora T. Garcia as the Focal Person of Food and Innovation Center Region 02. The official receipt of the grant was presented to Dr. Bilgera by Prof. Dr. Emerson V. Barcellano, the current Campus Administrator, during a formal turnover at his office in ISU Roxas New Site.
The project aims to promote product development, enhance technology transfer, and support the production of food products within the local economy. Dr. Barcellano and Dr. Bautista expressed their gratitude for the full support of DOST in furthering ISU Roxas’ objectives for innovation and sustainable economic growth through entrepreneurship within its community.
The implementation of Project PRIDE aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically: decent work and economic growth (SDG 😎 by promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing local economic development; industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9) through technology transfer and product innovation within the community; responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) by supporting sustainable practices in food production and encouraging local sourcing; and by promoting inclusive economic growth and fostering strong institutions through entrepreneurship and innovation. By enhancing local economies and ensuring equitable access to resources, it contributes to building peaceful and just societies, essential for sustainable development (SDG 16).
This initiative not only aims to foster economic growth through innovative solutions but also emphasizes sustainable practices that benefit both the community and the environment.
