Dr. Rosalyn Bautista, a renowned faculty member at Isabela State University- Roxas Campus, represented the campus at the International Conference on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction Management, which took place at Vietnam-German University in Vietnam from August 27 to 31, 2025. The conference brought together worldwide experts, academic researchers, and practitioners to examine novel methods to climate change adaptation, disaster preparedness, and resilient community development.
Further, Dr. Bautista made an important contribution to the conference by presenting her research titled “Development and Acceptability of Ready-to-Eat (RTE) Bamboo Shoot (Bambusa Merrilliana) Meals: Convenient Foods During Calamities.” Her research focused on developing nutritious, sustainable, and easily transportable food solutions to help communities affected by natural disasters. The talk focused on both the practical and scientific sides of the research, emphasizing how local resources may be used to improve food security and catastrophe resilience.
In addition, Dr. Bautista’s research directly contributes to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by looking at sustainable and resilient food supplies during disasters. It also addresses SDG 13 (Climate Action) by developing methods to increase community resilience to climate-related threats, as well as SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by encouraging vulnerable people to plan and adapt. Furthermore, her collaboration with international specialists supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which promotes worldwide cooperation to address catastrophe risks and climate change.
Indeed,
Dr. Bautista’s participation in this international meeting not only highlighted ISU Roxas’ creative research, but also established the university as a contributor to worldwide conversations on climate change adaptation and catastrophe risk reduction. Her findings are expected to influence future research, community activities, and governmental initiatives focused at increasing resilience and sustainable development in the Philippines.
