ROXAS, Isabela | August 5, 2026 — Isabela State University (ISU) officially commenced the 2026 Accreditation Survey Visit of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. through a virtual Opening Meeting on August 5, bringing together university officials, faculty members, staff, students, alumni, industry partners, and stakeholders from the Cabagan, Ilagan, and Roxas campuses in a shared commitment to quality assurance and continuous institutional improvement.
The three-day survey visit, scheduled from August 5 to 7, 2026, covers five academic programs across the three campuses. These include the Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness of ISU Cabagan Campus, the Bachelor of Science in Architecture of ISU Ilagan Campus, and the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness (Level IV Accreditation) and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Level III Phase 2 Accreditation) of ISU Roxas Campus.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Precila C. Delima, PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs, warmly welcomed the distinguished AACCUP accreditors headed by Dr. Rodolfo B. Burac, Jr., expressing the University’s sincere appreciation for their dedication, expertise, and invaluable role in promoting quality assurance in higher education.
Dr. Delima underscored that accreditation is more than an institutional requirement—it is an opportunity to honestly examine the University’s practices, recognize its accomplishments, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions that will further strengthen its academic programs. She also acknowledged the unwavering commitment of university officials, faculty members, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders whose collective efforts made the accreditation survey possible.
Delivering his inspirational message, University President Prof. Boyet L. Batang, PhD described the survey visit as more than an accreditation activity, emphasizing that it is a celebration of the University’s shared commitment to excellence, integrity, innovation, and transformative education.
He highlighted that the academic programs undergoing accreditation represent years of dedication, collaboration, and purposeful leadership. President Batang stressed that accreditation is not merely an assessment of compliance but an affirmation of ISU’s commitment to providing education that transforms lives, strengthens communities, and contributes to national development.
The University President also emphasized the significant contributions of the programs under survey. He noted that the agriculture and agribusiness programs advance sustainable agriculture and food security, the criminology program develops professionals committed to justice and public service, while the architecture program nurtures creative and socially responsible architects who design resilient and people-centered communities. Despite their distinct disciplines, he said these programs are united by one purpose—to produce competent professionals, innovative leaders, and responsible citizens who will serve the nation with excellence and integrity.
Recognizing the collective efforts behind the University’s accomplishments, President Batang commended the campus executive officers, deans, program chairpersons, faculty members, support personnel, students, alumni, and partners for their dedication in preparing for the accreditation survey. He reminded the ISU community that every improvement and innovation pursued by the University is ultimately intended to provide students with the best educational experience possible.
He further encouraged everyone to regard accreditation as a continuing journey, emphasizing that sustaining excellence requires continuous improvement and responsiveness to the evolving needs of society.
Serving as the Overall Coordinator of the survey visit, Dr. Rodolfo B. Burac, Jr. presented the purpose of the accreditation and provided an overview of the evaluation process that will guide the three-day assessment.
On behalf of the AACCUP accreditation team, Dr. Burac commended Isabela State University for its unwavering commitment to quality assurance and for continuously raising the standards of its academic programs through accreditation. He explained that the evaluation will validate the quality of each program in areas such as curriculum and instruction, research, extension, faculty development, graduate performance, institutional linkages, and other outcome-based indicators required for higher accreditation levels.
Dr. Burac emphasized that accreditation serves not merely as an evaluation of compliance but as a catalyst for continuous improvement and institutional transformation. He encouraged the participating programs to embrace the process as an opportunity to strengthen their academic offerings, enhance institutional practices, and further advance the University’s mission of providing quality higher education.
Following the opening ceremony, Dr. Burac introduced the pool of AACCUP accreditors assigned to the participating programs before the delegates proceeded to their respective breakout sessions, marking the formal start of the accreditation survey.
As the evaluation continues until August 7, 2026, Isabela State University remains steadfast in its pursuit of academic excellence and continuous quality improvement.
