ROXAS, ISABELA — August 10, 2026. — The Isabela State University–Roxas Campus joined the celebration of ASEAN Month 2026 through a meaningful observance integrated into the campus’ regular Flag-Raising Ceremony, bringing together faculty, staff, and students in a celebration of culture, learning, unity, and regional cooperation.
The celebration began with the Flag-Raising Ceremony, featuring the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, ASEAN Hymn, and other institutional and patriotic hymns. The ASEAN celebration continued with an audiovisual presentation on the history of ASEAN, featuring a video provided by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) along with other ASEAN-related videos highlighting the organization’s history, member states, cultures, cooperation, and shared aspirations.
Following the presentations, students participated in an engaging ASEAN Question-and-Answer Activity, testing their knowledge of ASEAN and its member states. Students who successfully answered the questions received prizes courtesy of the Director of PRELIA.
Adding color and cultural expression to the celebration was the ASEAN-Inspired Attire Parade and Cultural Showcase, where ISU Roxas personnel and students presented attire inspired by ASEAN cultures and traditions. Participants also explained the country they represented and the cultural inspiration behind their attire.
The showcase culminated in the awarding of Assoc. Prof. Charibel R. Sarte as the Best ASEAN-Inspired Attire, recognizing her majestic and elegant ensemble for its creativity, cultural inspiration, and impressive presentation.
Beyond cultural appreciation, the celebration highlighted the importance of ASEAN cooperation in education, research, innovation, sustainability, and internationalization. For ISU Roxas, stronger ASEAN connections can create opportunities for academic collaboration, cultural exchange, research partnerships, student and faculty engagement, and the sharing of innovative practices.
These efforts complement the University’s continuing commitment to WURI, SmartGreen University initiatives, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encouraging innovation, environmental responsibility, community development, and meaningful solutions to real-world challenges.
The celebration also looked toward stronger ASEAN partnerships, with Atty. Romano P. Cammayo, DPA, Campus Administrator, emphasizing upcoming projects and initiatives involving ASEAN countries that can provide opportunities for academic collaboration, research, cultural exchange, innovation, and international engagement.
The ASEAN Month celebration reminded the ISU Roxas community that ASEAN is more than a celebration of neighboring cultures—it is about building relationships, sharing knowledge, respecting diversity, and working together toward a sustainable and inclusive future.
