Roxas, Isabela – Isabela State University (ISU) Roxas recently hosted Hon. Mark Henrich U. Hatol, Sangguniang Bayan member and Chair of the Committee on Ways and Means, on July 29, 2025. The meeting centered on securing support for vital campus projects to improve student and community safety and overall campus accessibility. These projects align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Asst. Prof. Joey C. Cereno, Director for Planning, presented initiatives to address traffic congestion and enhance safety around the campus. These include measures to create a more organized and efficient flow of vehicles, minimizing obstructions, and creating a safer environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This directly supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by reducing accident risks and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by improving traffic flow and overall campus accessibility.
Prof. Dr. Emerson V. Barcellano, the Campus Administrator, emphasized the importance of these projects for a secure and conducive learning environment. By improving infrastructure and enhancing traffic management, the initiatives contribute to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring a safer and more accessible campus. The projects indirectly support SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through improved campus infrastructure.
The university anticipates a positive outcome and a collaborative partnership with the Sangguniang Bayan to implement the proposed improvements. This collaboration underscores the shared commitment to the well-being and progress of the ISU Roxas community.
