Roxas, Isabela | July 8, 2026 — A simple blank sheet of paper became one of the most powerful symbols of hope and perseverance during the 2026 Commencement Exercises of Isabela State University Roxas Campus, as one of the University’s Magna Cum Laude graduates delivered an inspiring Address of Thanks before the graduating class, university officials, faculty members, parents, and guests.
Beginning the speech by holding up a blank piece of paper, the student speaker shared that the most difficult part of creating a drawing is not sketching a face or a landscape—it is making the very first line. That first stroke, the speaker explained, is filled with uncertainty, fear, and endless possibilities.
Using this powerful metaphor, the graduate compared every student’s first day at Isabela State University to a blank page. Entering college with dreams, doubts, and hopes for the future, each graduate slowly transformed that empty page into a story filled with knowledge, friendships, challenges, and achievements.
Recalling the difficult years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the speaker shared how drawing became a personal refuge and a lesson in perseverance. Every mistake, every erased line, and every unfinished sketch became an opportunity to improve.
Through this experience, the graduate realized that excellence is not an innate gift but the result of consistency and determination.
“We are here today not because we were the smartest or because we never failed. We are here because every time we wanted to stop, we chose to continue.”
The address then turned into a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the people who helped shape the graduates’ success.
Special appreciation was extended to Atty. Romano P. Cammayo, DPA, Campus Administrator, the University administrators, faculty members, directors, deans, program chairpersons, and the many offices and support personnel whose dedication created a nurturing learning environment. The speaker also recognized the invaluable contributions of librarians, laboratory personnel, utility workers, security guards, student leaders, and administrative staff whose quiet service often goes unnoticed but remains essential to student success.
The most emotional tribute was reserved for parents, guardians, siblings, and families who sacrificed tirelessly to make education possible. From farmers and drivers to overseas workers, vendors, and single parents, the graduate honored every family member whose sacrifices became the foundation of the graduates’ achievements.
The address likewise recognized classmates and friends who journeyed together through years of learning, encouragement, and shared aspirations.
Above all, the speaker offered gratitude to God, acknowledging His constant guidance, blessings, and unfailing love throughout every challenge and triumph.
Looking toward the future, the Magna Cum Laude graduate reminded the Class of 2026 that while one chapter has been completed, another blank page now awaits them—filled with new careers, responsibilities, opportunities, and dreams.
The graduates were encouraged not to fear uncertainty but to embrace every new beginning with courage, remembering that the greatest stories do not start with perfect plans but with the willingness to take the first step.
Concluding the address, the speaker reminded the graduating class that while they now hold the pencil that will write the next chapters of their lives, it is God who continually gives them the opportunity to begin anew.
The heartfelt message earned a standing ovation from graduates, parents, faculty members, and guests, serving as a fitting reminder that every meaningful achievement begins with courage, perseverance, gratitude, and faith.
As the newest alumni of Isabela State University Roxas Campus, the Class of 2026 now carries with them not only their diplomas but also the enduring lesson that every blank page is an invitation to create a future filled with purpose, excellence, and service.
