March 28, 2025- The extension training session titled “Organikong Pataba para sa Malusog at Ligtas na Pagkain ng Madla: Livelihood Training Program” was successfully conducted for the members of the Simimbaan Farmers Association. This training, initiated by the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) program under the School of Agriculture and Agribusiness (SAA) of Isabela State University Roxas (ISUR) Campus, aimed to promote organic farming practices and provide farmers with cost-effective alternatives to synthetic fertilizers, which have become increasingly expensive. Additionally, the training sought to ease production costs while promoting sustainable practices that contribute to better health, food safety, and environmental preservation.
The event commenced with a heartfelt prayer led by Jericho Molina, a second-year BSA student, followed by a warm welcome from Ernesto B. Pascua, the President of the Simimbaan Farmers Association. The event was further enriched by the presence of delegates from ISUR, who played an integral role in facilitating the program. Dr. Bladyner O. Da Jose, BSA Program Chair, delivered an inspiring message, assuring the participants of the University’s ongoing support for agricultural endeavors.
The participants actively engaged throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions. Mr. Ramos answered each query in detail, fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of these organic practices. The session also included visual demonstrations of modern and practical methods for producing organic fertilizers, offering farmers a hands-on approach to implementing these practices in their own farming.
This successful training session was made possible by the collaborative efforts of Dr. Da Jose, Mr. Ramos, Ms. Isabelita Duarte, and the second-year BSA students. It was also supported by Dr. Januard D. Dagdag, the Extension Training Director, and Dr. Rosalyn L. Bautista, the Campus Administrator of ISUR. Their combined efforts helped facilitate this essential training, which will significantly aid in the adoption of organic farming practices within the Simimbaan Farmers Association.
Through this extension training, local farmers were equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for a sustainable shift toward organic farming, ensuring the production of healthier, safer food for the community.
